Chargeback Handling Process
A chargeback occurs when a customer disputes a transaction with their card provider or bank, often after the payment has been settled to the merchant. The disputed amount is deducted from the merchant’s next settlement after a successful dispute.
Merchants must prove customer authorisation for the payment to challenge the dispute with the bank. Successful disputes with sufficient proof will result in the funds being paid back to the merchants.

Webhook events
Chargebacks are initiated by the bank before any information is provided. To monitor chargebacks, use credit note webhook events similarly to refund scenarios. Refer to the reason field of the webhook to identify whether it is a chargeback or a refund. The invoice status will revert to PAST_DUE if the chargeback is successful.
