How fees are charged and collected

To illustrate how fees impact transactions, consider a $100 gym membership fee with a $2 transaction fee and a $1 load fee. Tables below illustrates the behaviour for different fees configuration:

Key insights

  • If fees are merchant paid, customers are charged only the membership fee.
  • If fees are customer paid, customers are charged an additional amount, which must be clearly communicated to maintain transparency.
  • Hybrid configurations (e.g., some fees paid by the merchant, others by the customer) affect both the customer’s charge and the merchant’s settlement amount.

To ensure transparency and prevent disputes, it is critical to display customer-paid fees during sign-up. Customers should be well-informed about any additional costs beyond the base invoice amount. Ezypay offers an API endpoint to retrieve and display these fees dynamically: Retrieve Ezypay Customer Paid Fees

Fees stacking

Ezypay fees are charged on every transaction attempts, regardless it is success or fail. As such, the fees will stack if there are multiple attempts on a single invoice.
